Feminine hygiene

A woman’s vagina is very crucial and complicated. Many factors can throw off the pH or cause infections and it’s important to know how to keep your lady parts working properly from the inside out. Douches, creams, and perfumes will do more harm than good.

So what can you do?

Indians have been known to chew on fennel seeds and cardamom seeds to get rid of bad breath post meals. The oils in the fennel and cardamom seeds have anti-bacterial properties, as well as help neutralise foul smelling odours and aid with digestion.

Load up on citrus fruits and pineapple: Citrus fruits like grapefruits, oranges, lemons and pineapples have been known to sweeten vaginal discharge and semen alike by many anecdotal sharing. These fruits are packed with vitamin C, which are powerful anti-oxidants and strong disinfectants.

Probiotics promotes balance of the delicate microbiota environment in our body, and helps to reduce risks of infections. But if you are on blood thinners please DO NOT consume pineapple and citrus fruits.

Herbs like rosemary, parsley and mint have been known to be a powerful odour eliminator and refreshing as they contain strong oils. So next time you decide to take a bath, add some herbs into the water.

Coffee smells good, coffee breath does not. Coffee also ends up stinking your pee, which impacts on the smell ability of your vagina. If you need the caffeine fix, consider drinking green tea instead. Packed with antioxidants, it helps to fight the growth of bacteria. However, if you have internal cold, suffer migraines or headaches and have poor circulation, do not drink green tea due to its cold nature.

Almost all processed foods can be high in sugar, salts, fats and unpronounceable compounds. Bacteria that lead to infections love sugar. Having a diet high in sugar and processed foods is almost like giving the green light to infections galore and reducing your body’s ability to regenerate itself.

Stop smoking and drinking. You will be doing your Liver a favour too.

Avoid using tampons and moon cups, just let your menstrual blood flow.
