Lotus root is the root of the lotus flower. The lotus root is a long, woody object that attaches to the bottom of the pad and can stretch up to four feet. It can be washed, sliced, and then prepared. It is frequently used as a vegetable in Asian cuisines, including within soups; it can also be deep-fried, stir-fried, braised, or cooked in other interesting ways. It is also used in the natural or powdered form in traditional herbal medicine. I personally make a sautee with lots of onions for blood cells, ginger to strengthen digestive function (Stomach & Spleen) and black garlic which is the best natural anti-biotic with red capsicum for anti-oxidants.
