Kindness

Kindness does not cost anything


By definition, kindness is the quality of being friendly, generous, and considerate. The world would be a better place if we acted through kindness.

 

 First and foremost, kindness begins towards yourself. We place unrealistic expectations and pressure on ourselves that are counteractive in reality. We are quick to let others get away with behaviours but when it comes to ourselves, we are our toughest critic. Show yourself love, generosity, compassion and consideration daily.

 

 Speak to yourself kindly, thank yourself and your body for all it does and be gentle. You can show yourself self-love through eating well and taking care of yourself. Listening to your body's cues and signals to rest are important. Express yourself creatively, use tools like meditation and journaling to handle your emotions.

 

 Once you begin cultivating self love and kindness, it will be only natural to share this feeling outside of yourself.

 

 Our outside world often acts like a mirror, showcasing us endless opportunities that we can use for growth through our very own reflection. With all the destruction in the world currently, we must take some accountability individually and do what we can to make our immediate world better and work outwards from there. Through action and sometimes non-action of kindness, we can do that. No deed is too small and neither is any act of kindness.

 

 Be kind to whomever you meet on a daily basis whether you know them or not as you never know what that person is going through. Perhaps they were contemplating on committing suicide and you could be that person who saves them. I know there are many things I get saved from on a daily basis by my patients.
