Promote Kidney health with congee

Everyone should be promoting Kidney health throughout the year but in particular during the colder season, winter. There is restrictions but this congee is best eaten in the evening for dinner for best results. Kidney time is between 5-7pm which is also the best time for dinner.

Ingredients - serves 1-2 persons:

2 table spoons of black beans (goes to Kidneys and Kidney Blood)

1 table spoon of small red beans (goes to Kidneys and Blood)

30grams of Yam (Shan Yao) (goes to Spleen)

10-20 goji berries (Gou Qi Zi) (goes to Liver and Liver Blood)

Half cup rice (I personally use black or red rice as its goes straight to Kidneys and Blood and I consider black/red foods Blood and energy tonics).

Cooking instructions:

Soak the beans and yam for 2 hours then rinse.

Soak the goji berries for 30 minutes then rinse.

Rinse rice, bring 4 cups of water in a pot to boil, but may need more depending on rice you are cooking and put in all ingredients. Boil again, lower heat to medium and cook for 45 minutes or until beans are soft. Add more water if necessary until you have a rice porridge like consistency. Chinese Medicine doctors you will know the consistency.
