Hair loss

Hair Loss/Alopecia

Hair loss is something that most women are obsessed about. For people with longer hair, losing them may be more noticeable. Since there are more 100,000 hair follicles on each person’s scalp, the loss of 100 or so hair strands a day does not make a big difference.

Women tend to lose more hair than men. This could be to do with daily heat styling and frequent hair colouring playing a big part in how much of your hair sheds. Approximately 40% of women lose extra hair every day because of the way they style it. Women are also more likely than men to experience periods of increased hair shedding due to life events like pregnancy and menopause.

Some daily hair loss is normal but increased hair loss can be a result of stress or a health condition. Other potential causes of hair loss include:

Alopecia

Female pattern hair loss

Thyroid conditions

Lupus (Blood disorder)

Nutritional deficiencies

Excessive washing, bleaching, brushing, and heat styling can also have an impact on how much of your hair falls out every day. Once your hair follicle has been stretched or split as a result of a cosmetic hair treatment, the structure of the hair follicle is compromised.

Those who come to me and allow me to, I will carry out wet cupping to the scalp to encourage Blood flow to the head in conjunction with acupuncture to build energy and Blood.

Electro-acupuncture inhibits alopecia related changes in skin cells. Electro-acupuncture is a form of acupuncture in which needles are attached to a device that produces continuous electric impulses and then placed at specific points on the patient's body.

Hair follicle formula prescribed by your TICM doctor is one of the best formulas to keep your hair nourished, shiny and prevent it from falling out. In TICM hair is related to energy and Liver Blood and Kidney essence. When healthy, our bodies will be in top shape with energy, beautiful hair and skin. This formula tonifies energy, Liver Blood and Kidney essence. He Shou Wu is the main agents to carry out these benefits.

Herbs that are amazing according to TICM are:

Korean red ginseng as it shows promise in the treatment of alopecia. In a preliminary study, scientists observed that Korean red ginseng may help promote hair growth in people with alopecia.

Onion juice to parts of the head or body affected by alopecia may help promote hair growth, according to a study. In an experiment involving 38 people with alopecia, those who used an onion juice based treatment twice daily for two months experienced significantly more hair growth compared to those assigned to a tap water based treatment for the same time period. Onions resemble our red blood cells as well as promoting the production of RBC.

Stress and emotions play an important role in triggering episodes of alopecia. Although it's possible that practicing stress and emotions management techniques offer some protection against episodes of alopecia. Trauma is a big factor in hair loss too as I am discovering this personally at the moment.

Jojoba oil is great for a scalp that has experienced severe and prolonged dryness often results in dandruff, poor hair luster and increased hair loss. One great natural hair loss treatment involves using jojoba oil to moisturise the scalp’s hair follicles, which makes new hair healthy and strong. The oil may also help hair cells reproduce faster, and fortunately does not leave behind any greasy residue after being washed out. To use this natural hair loss treatment, warm a few drops of the oil in your hands, massage it into your roots and then wash out after 10-15 minutes using your usual shampoo and conditioner (although I am not keen on shampoo or conditioners).

Licorice root has a number of beneficial qualities when it comes to naturally treating hair loss. It works to alleviate a dry, irritated, or scabbed skull. But, most importantly, licorice root opens pores and strengthens weakened hair follicles, which is often the cause of hair loss in the first place. To start seeing instant results, apply weekly or consume orally in the form of licorice tea.

Rosemary oil has strong antiseptic properties that help treat flaky scalp, dandruff and infections all of which contribute to hair loss. It is also a natural hair loss treatment that acts as a potent stimulant when applied directly. And rosemary oil has superior antibacterial and antioxidant properties, both of which lead to noticeable hair regrowth.

However, the best thing you can take is Schisandra and He Shou Wu.
