Spring is here upon the Southern Hemisphere. Spring belongs to the Liver and the partner organ of the Liver is Gallbladder and together they make up the Liver system. Therefore, whilst it is important to look after Liver, we also must not forget Gallbladder. Gallbladder is an amazing and extraordinary organ in TICM.
Here are ways to make sure the Gallbladder is happy and thriving. Remember, a weakened Gallbladder also manifests emotionally. If you feel like you're stuck in life and make decisions from a place of fear, your Gallbladder may be needing some attention.
Help your Gallbladder:
Nutrition: remove greasy, fatty, rich or spicy foods for the time being. Focus on steady, consistent, meals with whole foods.
Connect to yourself: get in touch with your creative side and express yourself both verbally and emotionally. Don't be afraid to speak up for yourself. Avoid stress and find natural ways to cope. Connect to the color green and the wood element, which are associated with the Liver and Gallbladder.
Avoid eating 3 hours before sleep. Late night eating creates stagnation in the Liver the Gallbladder's partner organ and prevents the body from cleaning and repairing at night.
Overeating: stop eating when 80% full. Overeating creates much more pressure and harm than we realise.
Foods:
Cooked, easily digestible foods. Too many raw foods and drinks use too much Qi (energy) to be brought up to our internal temperature of 98.6° and then once they are, they can be digested, using more energy of course.
Sprouts and mushrooms: they contain the highest concentrations of trace minerals, vitamins, and macrophage support. Try woodear mushrooms.
Whole grains: rice, barley, millet, quinoa, spelt, kamut, oats and wheat berries. If you have gluten sensitivity, avoid barley, kamut and spelt.
Leafy greens: kale, collards, bok choy, nappa cabbage, watercress, mustard greens, leek, daikon tops, carrot tops, radish greens, turnip tops, dandelion greens, lettuces, etc.
Sour foods: sauerkraut, Granny Smith apples, lemons, sour plums and cherries. Lemon juice on greens does wonders.
Herbal medicine to smooth the flow of Qi, Blood and help support emotional health.
Colon detox formula to replenish Qi and promotes Blood circulation, drains the Liver, removes toxic heat from the gut, all while maintaining the body's Yang. The herbs in this formula address the root imbalances that lead to gallstones.
If you have had the Gallbladder removed, follow the above and also these tips:
Chew more: break down food as well as possible, chewing food 25-35 times if possible. This creates increased saliva production and beneficial enzymes
Herbs: speak to your doctor and see if adding herbs with enzyme blends that specifically include lipase is right for you.
