Brushing without toothpaste

No toothpaste, even better

Have you ever brushed your teeth without toothpaste? Did you know it could actually be beneficial to brush with nothing on the edge of your toothbrush?

In a 6 month trial published in the Journal of the American Dental Association, patients who first brushed their teeth with a toothbrush that did not contain toothpaste saw a 63% reduction in plaque build up, and a 55% drop in bleeding.

I have been brushing with no toothpaste and I love it. I rotate by brushing with ginger powder and homemade toothpaste. In TICM, saliva is very important.

What to do:

Brush slowly and gently for 5-15 minutes.

This produces and activates saliva.

After brushing, swish around the saliva in your mouth for 1-10 minutes.

Spit out, do not swallow.

Saliva is amazing, which is something drug dealers cannot understand. Saliva is quite a complex liquid composed of various enzymes, hormones, antibodies, and antimicrobial constituents. It is our first line of defence against bacteria and pathogens. This fluid is essential for proper digestion.

Saliva is regarded as the spiritual fluid of our bodies. This liquid connects to our brain function and entire nervous system. It allows us to taste our food and it even protects our teeth from decay. The better your saliva is, the better your health will be.
