Blood Clots: Home Remedies

Garlic has sulphur compounds that are known to melt blood clots. Consume one raw garlic clove in the morning for effective results. Garlic works on the smooth muscles of the arteries and causes them to relax and dilate, thereby lowering blood pressure. It also works as a blood thinner, thereby preventing blood clots in patients at risk for clots. If you can lay your hands on black garlic that would be better for you.

2. Cayenne peppers are natural blood thinners and have an effective impact on your body due to the presence of salicylates in them. The compound capsaicin present in cayenne helps promote smooth blood circulation and helps prevent blood clots. The compound helps clear away artery narrowing lipid deposits, and might help dilate arteries and blood vessels to clear away clots and the pain that comes with them.

3. Flaxseeds and chia seeds These tiny seeds are full of healthy omega-3 fatty acids that help in preventing blood clots and improve blood circulation. Flaxseeds are said to make platelets, the blood cells involved in clotting, less sticky. In fact, these seeds may reduce the risk of hardening of the arteries. Chia seeds are known to be natural blood thinners. They come packed with essential nutrients, especially omega-3 fatty acids that are good for the heart.

4. Olive oil boosts a component of HDL (good cholesterol) called apoA-IV. This helps protect against platelet aggregation that can cause heart attacks caused by coronary artery blockage and ischemic strokes.

5. Onions as well as apples and oranges contain the natural compound rutin, which was found to fend off clots in thrombotic mice. Onions will also increase your red blood cells. Next time you cut an onion, look at its structure comparing it to the RBC.

It means clots in arteries and veins can be treated by a single agent.

Researchers in Boston said: Rutin proved to be the most potently anti-thrombotic compound that we ever tested in this model. Clots occur in both arteries and in veins. Clots in arteries are platelet-rich, while those in veins are fibrin-rich, this suggests that 1 single agent can treat and prevent both types of clots.
