Zinc and magnesium

Magnesium and zinc are two minerals that are imperative to the healthy functioning of the body. Magnesium is integrated in over 700 biochemical reactions in the body and zinc is necessary for the function of every cell, playing a large role in sensory functions such as taste, smell and vision.

In TICM magnesium is critical to Gallbladder and Liver function. This statement is now supported by western medicine as researchers have linked magnesium deficiency to more than 50 health problems, many of which stem from malfunctions or issues in the digestive system and Liver systems. Without zinc, our bodies would be impaired at the cellular level. Zinc is also imperative for a man's testosterone metabolism, healthy prostate gland and for a woman's reproductive health.

Although zinc is essential, the body is unable to store it naturally, like it does with other vitamins and minerals. This is why you need to consume zinc regularly through your daily diet and via mineral supplements only if absolutely essential. Majority of people think they are lacking, purchase supplements and they are actually overdosing their body and end up with other sicknesses that their medical doctor may not be able to pick up as generally medical doctors either encourage patients with vitamin supplements or they do not ask whether you are on supplements.

Obtain your magnesium and zinc through food sources. If you feel you are lacking, get your digestive system looked at as absorption is the problem.
