Walnuts are dubbed brain food since they have a very high content of DHA, a type of Omega-3 fatty acid, which helps support brain function. Among other things, DHA has been shown to protect brain health in newborns, improve cognitive performance in adults, and prevent or ameliorate age-related cognitive decline. In TICM, the healing essence of walnuts supports Kidney Qi (energy), which helps support Jing. The Brain contains the Sea of Marrow. Jing produces marrow and marrow is the material foundation for the central nervous system and is what makes up the brain.
