Purple cabbage and all types of cabbage have cancer preventative benefits as they contain a compound called sinigrin which is a cabbage glucosinolate. It converts into isothiocyanate or AITC which has shown to have unique cancer preventative properties especially in regards to bladder, colon, prostate and breast cancers.
To reap the benefits of cabbage it is best eaten raw, slightly steamed or lightly sauteed.
